This is the story of a tree. A tree rooted in-front of my office There's nothing extraordinary or outstanding about this tree except...for whatever reason, this tree was cut down to a stump. Maggot food. Dead as far as all were concerned. Months later, this cut down, maggot eaten, dried up tree has sprouted new branches with healthy green leaves. You know this tree. This tree is you. You may remember the period in your life when you were cut down, your growth prevented, left for dead. You went through a period of desolation and despair. You learned to do with less, to bide your time, to weather the storm, to survive the "maggots" eating through your structure. Presently it's, thankfully, a memory and a testimony. A ship is called "she" because there is always a great deal of "Bustle" around her and there is usually a gang of "men" about. She has a "waist" and stays in "shape" for a long time. It takes a lot of "paint" to keep her looking good and it is not the initial expense that breaks you, it is the "upkeep." Sooooo.....one day you're a joy to be around, a gift, a blessing......the next day (literally) you're a pariah, the devil incarnate, a scourge. In the blink of an eye, the tick of a clock, you've experienced the extremes of the human condition......emotions. What does one do in this case? Live your life for you. Spending time focusing on people's transient view of you distracts you from being the best you that you can be. It's not easy but then again, nothing worth doing was ever easy.

After doing one of my regular progress checks it would appear that I'm having teenage experiences in my mid-life years. This is very unnerving. It's quite disheartening when I get reminded from time to time that I've not achieved much of what I've set out to. Though times have changed and I'm actually on track (or so I keep telling myself), I can't allow myself to get complacent. Have to keep pushing ahead, work to stay relevant, be "perfect".... Go further. Go faster. Climb higher. Work harder.....

If you're like me, waiting even a few seconds for your machine to complete a task can be pretty annoying and irritating. Well, here are some tips I came across by MaximumPC that can help speed up Windows and prevent you from throwing your machine out a window. 1. Reduce App Start-Up Too many programs competing to start when the machine boots can add to your frustration of waiting to get some "work" done. To remove some of the bloat go to the Start menu and type msconfig . Click the Startup tab in console window that appears. You'll see a list of programs scheduled to start when Windows does.This is where it gets tricky. Some of the items in the list are actually needed for Windows to run so you'll have to disable with care. 2. Clean Up Your Hard Drive The PC will, over time, become clogged with unwanted files which cause slower speeds. Getting rid of the clutter can actually improve performance. I've generally had the habit of telling people to be careful what they ask for as they may just get it. I must admit that I've fallen victim to said adage. I had the pleasure/pain of experiencing something that has not only been missing from my life but something that I need. A pleasurable experience because it felt good. I felt whole. I was honestly happy. A painful experience because now that thing is gone and I'm only left with the reminder of what's been missing from my life. The new (and expanded) life that my pre-existing emptiness has gained. At this point I cannot be convinced that ignorance isn't absolute bliss... Sent from my Nokia E63
