Right To Die?

As humans we have basic rights and freedoms, in free societies, that are expected. Where we work, how we worship, what we eat, how we play, how we look.....but not how we die. Suicide is a taboo topic. Assisted suicide even more so. It is ironic that people are ok with sending men and women to die for country, demand the death penalty for criminals, but even hint at wanting to end your pain and suffering and your soul is damned to hell. How is it that we show more compassion to our pets than to our kin? The right to die is a concept based on the belief that a human being is entitled to end their own life or to undergo voluntary euthanasia. ... Other religious views on suicide vary in their tolerance, and include denial of the right as well as condemnation of the act. ~ https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Right_to_die Assisted suicide is a serious topic. Perhaps taking a satirical look at it may make it easier to have a conversation.

Death Brings New Life

This is the story of a tree. A tree rooted in-front of my office There's nothing extraordinary or outstanding about this tree except...for whatever reason, this tree was cut down to a stump. Maggot food. Dead as far as all were concerned. Months later, this cut down, maggot eaten, dried up tree has sprouted new branches with healthy green leaves. You know this tree. This tree is you. You may remember the period in your life when you were cut down, your growth prevented, left for dead. You went through a period of desolation and despair. You learned to do with less, to bide your time, to weather the storm, to survive the "maggots" eating through your structure. Presently it's, thankfully, a memory and a testimony. Presently, new life is evident, you are growing, you are fresh and green. If you are going through your "cut down" period, take heart in knowing it doesn't represent the end.
