Are you thinking about getting a Smart TV? Not too inclined on spending all that money on purchasing said Smart TV especially when you have a perfectly working LCD/LED TV? Not to worry. You can still enjoy the Smart TV experience without hurting your pocket. A Smart TV is one that allows a connection to the Internet. For many new TVs, this means access to a collection of apps (e.g. YouTube, Netflix, ESPN, Hulu, etc), a web browser (e.g. Chrome), and access to home network files. In order to do this, the TV needs access to the Internet by connecting it to a router and broadband. So how do you get the Smart TV experience without springing for a new TV. Pretty easy. Get a set-top box; Roku, Apple TV or Google TV. Roku Streaming Player Roku is a small box that connects to your home network via Ethernet cable or Wi-Fi signal and streams over 300 channels to your television set. You connect the Roku to your TV through the included AV cables or HDMI cable. The on...
Gift -> Pariah

Sooooo.....one day you're a joy to be around, a gift, a blessing......the next day (literally) you're a pariah, the devil incarnate, a scourge. In the blink of an eye, the tick of a clock, you've experienced the extremes of the human condition......emotions. What does one do in this case? Live your life for you. Spending time focusing on people's transient view of you distracts you from being the best you that you can be. It's not easy but then again, nothing worth doing was ever easy.

After doing one of my regular progress checks it would appear that I'm having teenage experiences in my mid-life years. This is very unnerving. It's quite disheartening when I get reminded from time to time that I've not achieved much of what I've set out to. Though times have changed and I'm actually on track (or so I keep telling myself), I can't allow myself to get complacent. Have to keep pushing ahead, work to stay relevant, be "perfect".... Go further. Go faster. Climb higher. Work harder.....
Speed up Windows

If you're like me, waiting even a few seconds for your machine to complete a task can be pretty annoying and irritating. Well, here are some tips I came across by MaximumPC that can help speed up Windows and prevent you from throwing your machine out a window. 1. Reduce App Start-Up Too many programs competing to start when the machine boots can add to your frustration of waiting to get some "work" done. To remove some of the bloat go to the Start menu and type msconfig . Click the Startup tab in console window that appears. You'll see a list of programs scheduled to start when Windows does.This is where it gets tricky. Some of the items in the list are actually needed for Windows to run so you'll have to disable with care. 2. Clean Up Your Hard Drive The PC will, over time, become clogged with unwanted files which cause slower speeds. Getting rid of the clutter can actually improve performance. CCleaner is a nifty, and free, little tool that can ...

I've generally had the habit of telling people to be careful what they ask for as they may just get it. I must admit that I've fallen victim to said adage. I had the pleasure/pain of experiencing something that has not only been missing from my life but something that I need. A pleasurable experience because it felt good. I felt whole. I was honestly happy. A painful experience because now that thing is gone and I'm only left with the reminder of what's been missing from my life. The new (and expanded) life that my pre-existing emptiness has gained. At this point I cannot be convinced that ignorance isn't absolute bliss... Sent from my Nokia E63
Stuck between Love and a Hard Place

It's often said that you should fight for what/who you love. Climb mountains, cross valleys, kill crocodiles, swat mosquitos, do whatever it takes to be with your love. The question is, what do you do when the obstacle you have to overcome and the goal you're trying to achieve is one and the same? How does one handle the dilemma of having to fight the person you love so you can get the person you love...? Sent from my Nokia E63

We'll begin with a box, and the plural is boxes, But the plural of ox becomes oxen, not oxes. One fowl is a goose, but two are called geese, Yet the plural of moose should never be meese. You may find a lone mouse or a nest full of mice, Yet the plural of house is houses, not hice. If the plural of man is always called men, Why shouldn't the plural of pan be called pen? If I speak of my foot and show you my feet, And I give you a boot, would a pair be called beet? If one is a tooth and a whole set are teeth, Why shouldn't the plural of booth be called beeth? Then one may be that, and there would be those, Yet hat in the plural would never be hose, And the plural of cat is cats, not cose. We speak of a brother and also of brethren, But though we say mother, we never say methren. Then the masculine pronouns are he, his and him, But imagine the feminine: she, shis and s...

So I'm in the supermarket and hear Yoda telling me that my phone is ringing...only it's not my phone. It belongs to someone else. What are the odds of running into a total stranger with the very same Star Wars ring tone as mine. So you know what I did.....I quickly changed my ringtone from Yoda to Darth Vader.

It's been said that it's better to have loved and lost than to never have loved (paraphrasing). Well I've finally loved and lost (big time) so now I have something new to add to my list of experiences and memories to haunt my thoughts. One less thing to concern myself with so I can now focus and prepare for other experiential events :-| Sent from my Nokia E63
Nothing to Fear....

After another sleepless night with nothing to do but think, I've been enlightened somewhat. Over time I've constantly asked myself what my greatest fear would possibly be. Death was quickly ruled out seeing that I look forward to it though I am a bit concerned about the way I die. But to cut to the chase, I've discovered that I fear having something to live for at the time that I'm about to die. Obviously, that's not the case at the moment. I have nothing keeping me here. No reason to get up in the morning. I'm just working that routine to the best of my abilities with some variation thrown in for good measure. I don't know if this fear will last or become overwritten by another but it is what it is at the moment.
